Description: Under general direction by the Tehama County Children and Families Commission and in accordance with the provision of the California Children and Families Act of 1998 (Proposition 10) administers and coordinates the programs and activities in support of the policies and procedures adopted by the Commission to support and optimize early childhood development within the County, including the distribution of funds and monitoring of programs funded through the Commission; oversees the overall direction of the Commission’s program activities. Performs related administrative and professional work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives administrative supervision from The Tehama County Children and Families Commission. Provides direct supervision to administrative support staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This position is classified as a management level contract employee and shall be exempt from overtime accrual. The Executive Director performs the functions and duties as specified in the Program Director classification approved by the Tehama County Board of Supervisors and other legally permissible and proper duties and functions of the Commission as may be assigned. In all other material respects, this position shall receive the benefits afforded to Tehama County Management Employee Association employees as described in the Tehama County Management Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Benefit modifications made from time to time in the MOU shall automatically apply to this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects, up to 30 pounds, as necessary to perform job functions. Employees must be able to travel in cars individually and in groups to attend regional, state and national conferences; normally employee drives him/herself to meetings.
WORKING CONDITIONS Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. Requires the ability to work under stress.
