Corning District Chamber of Commerce
The starting salary is $15-$18 per hour, to be reviewed after 90 days and then annually.
Tuesday-Friday, 10am-4pm. This also includes occasionally working in the evenings or on Saturdays.
The Corning Chamber of Commerce represents business and commerce in Corning, Tehama County, California. The Board of Directors is elected by its business members and provides vision, direction and fiduciary oversight to the Chamber of Commerce. The day to day operations of the Chamber of Commerce are delegated to the Executive Director.
I. Accountability
a. The Executive Director serves at the direction of the Chamber Board of Directors.
II. Responsibilities of the Executive Director
a. Provide accurate and detailed information to all inquiries; including interactions in person, email or by written correspondence, telephone or via social media.
b. Maintain the database in the Chamber website of available demographic information on all members.
c. Maintain a close working relationship with all Chamber Members, public, non-profit, and funding agencies. Attend meetings of such agencies at the direction of the Board.
d. Assist the Board in ground-breaking ceremonies, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, mixers and other events as requested.
e. Marketing of Chamber Events through various media outlets including social media.
f. Establish and maintain a membership recruitment and retention plan.
g. Provide office management activities to include but not limited to:
i. Work in coordination with Bookkeeper to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial status reports.
ii. Process all accounts receivable and payable including bank deposits, collecting receivables and sending invoices to members.
iii. Prepare timesheets and other items as needed to assist the payroll vendor with payroll.
iv. Prepare, write, edit, post and coordinate monthly newsletter distribution and other correspondence.
v. Basic office management activities that include creating office supply orders, answer incoming calls, and assisting with walk in clients.
vi. Other duties as assigned by Board of Directors
III. Salary and Time Requirements
a. The starting salary is $15-$18 per hour, to be reviewed after 90 days and then annually.
b. Sick leave is granted after 90-day probation period and after completing one year of employment; thirty hours of paid vacation will be granted.
c. The schedule is Tuesday-Friday, 10am-4pm. This also includes occasionally working in the evenings or on Saturdays. Attendance once per month at the Board of Director meeting is expected unless excused.
IV. Minimum Qualifications
a. High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree or applicable course work is preferred.
b. Appropriate written skills, leadership ability, and interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism. Sound time management skills are essential.
c. Working knowledge of various computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel worksheets, Google forms/drive/calendar, Canva (creating flyers) and various social media outlets.
d. Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate special events and Board of Directors meetings.
V. Physical Requirements
a. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
VI. Work Environment
a. While performing most of the essential functions of this job, the employee is usually indoors, in a controlled environment, and experiences a moderate noise level in the work environment. Light travel is required.
b. Employees will be expected to collaborate and be forthcoming with information for any internal audits, or investigations by authorities.
c. Employees are expected to adhere to the Standards of Conduct for the Corning District Chamber of Commerce.
