ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Tehama County Community Action Agency builds prosperous communities by empowering people. CAA provides various programs that assist low-income families by either providing the services directly or through a collaboration of subcontractors. This collaborative effort includes many valuable agencies, including the Department of Social Services, Tehama County Health Service Agency, Probation and PATH.
NATURE OF WORK: The primary function of a Community Services Aide II is to assist customers in obtaining self-sufficiency by connecting them to community resources, providing customer training and direct services. The Community Service Aide II also performs duties specific to special projects or programs as well as general operational duties. This work is performed in an office environment and in the field. May also include working outside of normal business hours.
IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate is reliable, provides courteous, respectful, and professional customer services; has the ability to analyze situations involving rules and regulations; demonstrates good judgment when making decisions; communicates effectively orally and in writing; interacts with individuals from various educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds; works cooperatively as part of a team and with community partners and other County agencies; listens attentively and understands oral information provided; prioritizes, plans and organizes one’s own work.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
TYPICAL DUTIES: Interviews and evaluates applicants for specific program services; monitors customers’ progress and ensures compliance with program requirements; develops customer services plans and provides case management services; serves as an advocate for customers as appropriate; prepares work/caseload statistics; completes and processes various forms and reports; provides program related information and referral services; performs general office work as necessary, including but not limited to attending meetings, establishing and maintaining files; enters data into the computer; creates spreadsheets and flyers; assists with fundraising and other Community Action Agency (CAA) activities; operates a County vehicle to transport customers and/or deliver services. Controversial Issues: As a Community Services Aide II, you may encounter customers who are emotionally charged, customers that have substance dependence, mental health issues, trauma or domestic violence history. You may be assisting customers whose values may conflict with your own values. A Community Service Aide II must be able to accept customers’ differences and interact with them in a non-judgmental manner.
